Suzanne Rigden (she/her), soprano, is making her mark on the international stage with her “remarkable gift for stratospheric coloratura” and witty “comic genius.” In the 2025/2026 season she will return to Pacific Opera Victoria to perform Amor in Orpheus and Eurydice as well as performing Léa in l’hiver attend beaucoup de moi with Festival Classica and Musique3Femmes.
Her recent season engagements have included Carmina Buriana with Dalhousie Collegium Cantorum and Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro with Pacific Opera Victoria. In her 2022/2023 season she covered Die Nachtigall in Die Vögel and performed for the “Friends of Timothy” concert with Pacific Opera Victoria and Victoria Symphony. She also performed the international premiere of Léa in l’hiver attend beaucoup de moi by Laurence Jobidon in Berlin, Germany with Musique3Femmes, a performance ensemble and charity organization committed to fostering the next generation of Canadian women-identifying opera creators that she co-founded in 2018. In 2023 she also debuted Despina in Cosí fan tutte with Opera Nova Scotia and Violetta in La Traviata with Maritime Concert Opera. Past performances include returns to Pacific Opera Victoria to perform Lisa in Countess Maritza as well to Opera Nova Scotia to perform Gianetta in The Gondoliers, Danica in Svadba with Montreal Opera and Adele in Die Fledermaus with Vancouver Opera. She is an alumna of the Merola Opera Program and l’Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal.
Suzanne is equally dedicated to teaching and nurturing the next generation of musicians. Fall of 2022 Suzanne became Part-Time Lecturer at the Fountain School of Performing Arts where she continues to instruct the Lyric Diction course as well teaching applied voice students. Suzanne lives in Dartmouth with her husband, child and senior cat named “la reine.” When she isn’t on the stage or in the studio you can find her playing soccer, doing puzzles or tending to her garden.
